The dir entry is just a mark, that tells  xse builder that specified 
entry must be included into archive, and that is directory, not a file. 
It doesn't commands the builder to include all contents of the 
directory, as you already discovered.

Yes, it is: execute archive exe with -debug option. This will bring up a 
console window with log of archive actions. But I should warn you: 
output redirection doesn't work yet :(
