Frank,
While I try to keep up with the community I no longer have the pleasure of actively working on CDT. I'll go remove my name from this bug and any others still assigned to me.
Sorry I can't be of more help. There are a lot of great resources on building Eclipse plug-ins and I'm sure the CDT community would welcome an attempt to fix the bug.
