CDT has moved to 1.6 on the master branch. There are no plans to switch for maintenance branches.

There were known bugs in 1.6 update 23 and 1.6 update 24. However, 1.6u25 and onwards solved that particular problem. I haven't seen any problems since.

This is the Sun bug report:

It notes that a fix was delivered in 6u25 and 7b123. However, I think it's

That bug talks about 1.7, no? I don’t go anywhere near 1.7. The quality has been horrible.

Considering that Java 6 will crash in some cases while JIT compiling some CDT code, I prefer not to go to Java 6.

Alternatively the CDT code can easily be refactored to prevent the ( known) JVM  crash.

My two cents.

CDT now requires Java 1.6.

I've never felt a very strong urge to go to 1.6, but I personally don't mind.
String.isEmpty() and @Override for interface would be nice.

Are there any objections against introducing dependency on Java 1.6 in CDT 9? The reasons for introducing the dependency are: String.isEmpty() method, Deque insterface, @Override annotations for implemented interface methods.
