[cdt-dev] The name of assembler command

Hello,
at the moment, CDT (or the org.eclipse.cdt.managedbuilder.gnu.ui plugin, to be 
specific), uses "as" the the name of the assembler tool. Would it be better 
to use "gcc" instead? Among other things, it will mean that input files with 
the .S extension will be preprocessed, like they should.
