RE: [cdt-dev] The name of assembler command

Hi Vladimir,

I do not know the historical reason of using "as" instead of gcc, since
the gnu tool-chain integration into the CDT was implemented before I
started working with CDT, probably some other developers who've been
staying with CDT for a longer period of time the I do might know the
answer to your question.
In any way you may create a bugzilla entry regarding this and we could
discuss the problem there.

Regards,
Mikhail

Subject: [cdt-dev] The name of assembler command

Hello,
at the moment, CDT (or the org.eclipse.cdt.managedbuilder.gnu.ui plugin,
to be
specific), uses "as" the the name of the assembler tool. Would it be
better
to use "gcc" instead? Among other things, it will mean that input files
with
the .S extension will be preprocessed, like they should.

Thanks,
Volodya
