All good questions.
The 1.2 Stream, is a maintainance stream.  We need to fix some serious
defects that was discover after and was to late to fix for the GA.
Also partners will want to push in some specific fix that when possible we've accomodate
in the past(CDT-1.0, 1.0.1, 1.1 ...)

For the verification/validation ???

PR that should also be fix in the branch are marked.
