+1 for this idea. It is a really cool idea. Does ODE provide a debug 
api? We've been meddling with the ode engine for a little while and 
didn't see any form of debug api available. Since now that the bpel 
plugins include an ode plugin for running bpel processes may be it is 
possible to get the input to this idea from the ode team as well and may 
be as an integration of the ode plugin to the eclipse bpel project. In 
otherwards such a GSOC project would require mentoring from both eclipse 
and (to some extent) apache I believe.
