Description Dani Megert CLA 2005-06-14 10:44:55 EDT
3.1 RC3

In order to prevent the file menu from having many open entries (like 'Open
File...', 'Open Web Page...', etc. it would be good to have a single 'Open' menu
which can be extended by clients.

See also bug 99853.

There are currently no plans to work on this although we would be happy to review a patch
Comment 2 Paul Webster CLA 2009-07-10 09:55:09 EDT
Is this satisfied by the context menu "Open With>Others..." or do you mean having File>Open File... and File>Open With>more editor choices as well?

No, this bug is about the 'File' menu. Strange enough the standard 'Open' and 'Open With' isn't there either which is against UI guidelines that request every action being available via main menu bar.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
