fresh workspace
checking out a java project from a cvs repo does not offer switching to the java
perspective. Just verified that.

potential for a massive user confusion/disapointment after working in the
resource perspective for a while

The same is true for Project import. The problem is that there is no Workbench
level association between project nature and perspective (at least not tht I
know of). Therefore, there is no way for CVS (or the project import) to know
which perspective to switch to. The Java new project wizard does know about
this association but I suspect it is hard-coded in the wizard.

Of course, the added complication is what to do when you import a plugin
project. Would you switch to the Jaa perspective or the PDE perspective?

Moving to UI since that is where the association between project nature and
perspective would need to live.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
