when I configure browsers the preference page needs to use the platform icon for the applications (like IE and Firefox) so I can tell them apart quickly.
There does not appear to be any way to pick up the icons directly from the system. (e.g. the SWT Program support only picks up a single program per file extension) I'll put in a request for new icons.
Code ready, waiting for icons. Design team is a little behind and hopes to have these complete soon - trying to find out whether/how long we can still accept the icons.
Michael, there is currently no SWT support to fetch the OS icon for a random program, just for the default registered for a file name. I don't think we should try to make 'lookalikes' ourselves until the SWT feature request is resolved.
This request has been deferred until SWT supports icons for arbitrary programs via 93372. In the meantime, the icons for external browsers have been removed from the list.
Tim, this bug targets Eclipse 3.2, and the final build is in less than two days. I suspect the milestone should be cleared.
Not sure who set the target, but I'll remove it since the SWT bug this bug depends on is not complete.
Mass update - these bugs belong to the UA component.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
