There are other people writing XML editors for eclipse.  Ask this question on 
the Eclipse newsgroup, a WSAD forum, or check the free offerings on source forge 
or http://eclipse-plugins.2y.net/

The Eclipse Platform is designed to be generic, it doesn't know about or provide 
special treatment for any particular file types.
