Description Mei Thom CLA 2005-03-07 15:36:14 EST
- start up JAWS 4.5.1
- start up Eclipse 3.0
- Go to Window -> Preferences and bring up Preferences dialog
- do Insert B on any Preference item on the list and notice that each time the
screen reader returns "Preference Dialog". It should return "Preference
Dialog" plus the contents of the Preference page that is currently open.

Does this occur with JAWS 5.0 or 6.0?
Comment 2 Mei Thom CLA 2005-03-14 13:48:48 EST
Besides JAWS 4.51, I tried JAWS 6 and got the same result - it only
read "Preferences dialog" when I opened Window -> Preferences, clicked on any
preference item on the left, and press "Insert + b".

As a note Ins+B has only ever worked in the case where the widgets that are
children of the root are labelled - i.e. if there are no composites. This has
always been a JAWS limitation - I was wondering if it had been fixed or not.

JAWS is supposed to be looking at fixing INS+B for 6.1.
Not sure if they will get to it, but they will try.

Just tried INS+B on the Preferences dialog while running JAWS 7.0.
JAWS still only says "Preferences dialog". You have to tab into the dialog to hear anything further.
This is a known JAWS problem - INS+B will only speak the direct children of a dialog, and not descendents.
I will contact our liason with FS and see if they can have another look at it.

Closing as this is a JAWs not Eclipse issue
