Current labels of CVS-related backgroud tasks have several issues. See attached screenshots.
Created attachment 18014 [details] problem with completion time
Created attachment 18015 [details] duplicated label wasting space
I could not reproduce the truncation of the progress view label or the dulplicate label. Please reopen if you can provide exact steps to reproduce.
Truncation could be reproduced if you make Progress view narow while task is running. Then once is done bold label is going to stay at an original size and will not expand when view is resized. This issue is probably generic for Progress view. Second ussue is about choosing values for two labels for synchronization task (bold and link). Currently they are: bold label: Synchronizing (Finished at 1:40 PM) link label: Synchronizing CVS (dev): 109 changes found. I'm suggesting to remove "Synchronizing " from a link label.
The truncation issue, as you describe it, would appear to be an issue with the progress view itself. Moving to UI. As for the duplicatation of the word Synchronize in the label and link, if it really bugs you, feel free to provide a patch. As for me, I'm willing to live with it.
Thanks Michael. I'll take a look on labels. Can you please give me some pointers to the code where these labels actually created?
Any plans to address this issue for 3.2? Completed task labels look really weird on a very narrow progress view...
We hope to look at this time permitting but no promises.
There are currently no plans to work on this although we would be happy to review a patch
As per http://wiki.eclipse.org/Platform_UI/Bug_Triage_Change_2009
The not expanding label will be fixed with bug 220791. If still someone cares for CVS labels open a new bug. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 220791 ***
