Description Christine Knight CLA 2005-01-11 12:43:55 EST
On the log interactions sequence diagram:

The time bar shows delta time on flyover but it is more intelligible if the
actual timestamp is displayed in the diagram. It would be useful to allow the
display format to be chosen as an option ( day / hour / minutes / second )

As a workaround today, you can get to the time using the search function in the
sequence diagram view.

This was requested for 3.3 as a P2 and now it is a P1.

There is also timestamp and message information displayed in property view on a
log event selection.
Timestamp cannot be shown in the time bar as it has no meaning on the node in
between 2 node, and it was mean to show a time duration, but not an actual time.

Requirement summary :

Log files can be quite large, and the execution time can span over days or
weeks, so the user wants to be able to scroll the view and quickly navigate to
the desired point in time. There is no easy way to do this now. The actual
timestamp of the events are not visible in the view.
The user wants to be able to scroll the log interactions view and see the
timestamp for the visible events.

Design solution:

The user opens the interactions view.
- as he moves the mouse over an event, the timestamp of that event is displayed
in the tooltip text. Right now only the elapsed time from the previous selected
events is displayed
- The user choose to navigate to a specific point in time. He selects the
scroll bar and rights click on it. As he moves the scroll, a tooltip text is
displayed and shows the following values : minimum time on this page, actual
timestamp based on the scrollbar position, maximum timestamp for the page. Only
the second value ( actual timestamp ) will change based on the scroll bar
selection. The minimum and maximum time will be available but they stay
unchanged unless moving to another page.

Nice to have : the same tooltip showing the minimum, maximum and actual
timestamp to be available when the user opens the Overview control and
navigates the content.

Changing to P1 as per the 4.1 official plan.
Comment 6 Ruth Lee CLA 2005-07-12 12:28:24 EDT
Assigning to the official 4.1 plan owner.
Comment 7 Christine Knight CLA 2005-08-23 17:19:42 EDT
This has been moved out of the TPTP 4.1 plan. It is a high priority item for us
and I'd like to see it get done. I have reset the version to 4.2 so it can get
into that plan.
Comment 8 Dominique Guilbaud CLA 2005-09-21 12:00:17 EDT
As discussed, it will be fixed in 4.2 release
Comment 9 Valentina Popescu CLA 2005-10-27 12:41:42 EDT
update priority per Chris's request
Comment 10 Dominique Guilbaud CLA 2005-12-13 09:34:17 EST

Solution choosen:

scroll bar and rights click on it. As he moves the scroll, a tooltip text is
displayed and shows the following values : minimum time on this page, actual
timestamp based on the scrollbar position, maximum timestamp for the page. Only
