Description Andreas Winter CLA 2002-01-14 11:36:36 EST
My notebook doesn't go into hibernation as long as Eclipse 2.0 is open.
With 1.0 everything was fine.

Added CC for McQ... any idea if this would be an SWT issue? Any idea
if hibernation is caused by lack of UI activity or lack of processor activity?

Typically, notebooks go to sleep when the user stops interacting with it.
There shouldn't be any programatic thing which you can do to stop this from
happening. That is, even if you were running code which kept poking events
onto the app's event queue, the laptop should still go to sleep, since the
user isn't interacting with it.

Having said that, I have no idea what happens on a wintel laptop. (I use a
Mac. ;-)

It ought to be easy enough to test locally however, there are a lot of laptops
around.

I'm using Win2K/SP2/German on an Compaq Evo N600c

The system is configured to go into hibernation when the (left) power button is
pressed. I usually set the system to hibernation instead of shutting it down.
When Eclipse (build 20011219) is running, the system sometimes refuses to go
into hibernation. Eclipse is the first application which causes this behavior.
No further idea.

Core should ask for assistance from SWT when they investigate this.

McQ.

Closing. We were never able to reproduce, and don't even know how an application
like Eclipse could cause this to happen. We have not had further reports of this
from other laptop users.
