Description Jon Smirl CLA 2001-12-24 12:38:31 EST
Eclipse should have a file bug/feature report choice on the help menu. This
would allow you to pre-fill in the extact build of the product and record JRE
version, installed plugings etc.

An unexpected exception could also give a choice to file a bug report and
include the stack trace.

If you can't get the browser to work, make the form in Java and generate a http
post.

This enhancement is a good idea and an opportunity for a contribution from the
open source community. Initially it could be written as a separate plugin.

Does anyone in the open source community want to write this feature?

i'm definitely interested and have started on a skeleton plugin...i will make
it available (sourceforge) as soon as i have something worth showing.

Leon, how is your plugin going?
Comment 7 Leon J. Breedt CLA 2002-05-02 06:46:23 EDT
i have a preliminary version available which works as a proof-of-concept.
no binaries, but the source is on sourceforge:

CVSROOT: cvs.defector.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/defector
Module: org.neverborn.edt

its pretty bare-bones, but i've tested it against the Eclipse repository successfully.
see my post on the newsgroup: "[ANN] pre-release of defect tracking plugin" for more details.

note: i will working overseas for 3 months, starting today, so i won't be able to give it that much attention until my return.

Thanks for the update Leon. When I get a chance I'll give it a try but this is
not likely to happen until after 2.0 is finished.
