Description Konrad Kolosowski CLA 2004-06-22 17:37:16 EDT
In 2.0, bug 18321 was fixed by requiring -XdoCloseWithReadPending option to be
passed to VM at startup. The bug 18321 also contains a patch that can be used
to fix the problem in the code.
Post 3.0, we should apply the patch at the beginning of new release to give it
enough testing and finally fix this problem.

According to
http://www.hp.com/products1/unix/java/infolibrary/prog_guide/hotspot.html#-
XdoCloseWithReadPending
the problem has been fixed in Sun's JRE 1.4.2.02.

Eclipse 3.0 plan specifices 1.4.2.00 as minimum JRE required by Eclipse on HP.
Once we increase the required version, the problem will goes away, and we can
clean the readme and click through.

Jim,
Can we cange the required Java2 version for HP from 1.4.2.00 to at least
1.4.2.02 in 3.1 plan?
Comment 3 Jim des Rivieres CLA 2004-08-23 17:30:43 EDT
I will make a note to update this in a forthcoming plan rev.
Comment 4 Konrad Kolosowski CLA 2005-02-03 18:32:02 EST
I see the plan lists 1.4.2.06 VM as minimum for HP, so the problem no longer
exists.

Jim, could you please remove the section about -XdoCloseWithReadPending from
the readme and HP click-through.
Thanks.
