Description Randy Hudson CLA 2004-06-09 15:14:48 EDT
In 2.1 I had CTRL+W mapped to Format. In 3.0, CTRL+W is now close. But I
removed this keybinding for the Close command. Now if I select the Format
command in the prefs page, I see under the "assigments" table (the top one)
CTRL+W, but it is a Red X and says (was: Close). CTRL+W does not invoke
Format. So why is this entry there under assigments if it is not assigned to
Format? How can I get rid of this entry? If I press the Restore button, it
shows up as a DELTA instead of an X. So now it looks like I've remapped the
Close command to Format. But, I tested it and CTRL+W invokes close, not
Format. There seems to be no way to make CTRL+W invoke Format.

Another example. In 2.1, I never wanted to use the Overwrite mode, so I
removed the INSERT keybinding for Toggle Overwrite in the default scope. Now,
in 3.0, I see the following under the Assignments table (the bottom one this
time):

X In Windows unassigned
   Editing Text Toggle Overwrite

There is NO way for me to remove the first assignemnt which I created in
Eclipse 2.1. If I press "ADD", it will change from a Red X to a + sign. The
only way to get rid of it is to load the default keybindings for all of
eclipse. This isn't what I want to do.

I have probably remapped about 5 commands in Eclipse 2.1. At least two of
these remappings are broken in 3.0.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
