When hovering over the search result annotation icon in the vertical ruler,
there's no hover text. Could e.g. be 'Reference to "Test"'.

As a new eclipse user, I have no clue about how to get rid of those yellow
arrows since I don't know what they stand for ... ;-)

We might consider putting a description of the query in there.
Comment 2 Dani Megert CLA 2004-05-21 08:20:18 EDT
can't remember the number but this is a dup (maybe set to LATER)

It' a feature request, really.

patch adding a hover to the annotations

The patch adds a method to the AbstractTextSearchResult such that the text for the annotation can be specified by the result. (This is an API change, that is binary compatible with the previous version)
For FileSearchResults the method is overridden to provide the text: 'matches <searchString>'.

API changes are difficult to get approved. Will have to wait for 3.3
