how about eclipse/SWT for solaris/x86 ?
Are you interested in working on this? Since there are x86 versions which work and Solaris versions which work, it shouldn't take more than re-making the launcher and .s0 files and making sure they end up in the right places. Solaris (on sparc) is provided in current drops, I believe, so you can look at that to see what's where. Caution: Tis currently no way to distinguish the x86 solaris version from the sparc solaris version. That is, the swt .so will have the same name on both architectures (yes, this is a known problem). This shouldn't cause you any grief unless you are trying to run them from the same install directory.
I with pleasure shall help.
We don't have the resources to work on this right now. As indicated previously, this should actually require very little effort, since the sparc/ Solaris version is work well, and the Motif code is quite portable (it runs on Solaris, AIX, HP-UX and several linux implementations).

Has there been any movement on this recently? I got 3.1 compiled and running on Solaris (9) x86 but didn't know if there was someone else working on this.
We haven't been looking into it.
