Hi, I have heard Netbeans is getting sorted editor tabs. Ironically it was one thing that decided me to switch to Eclipse. To the point: For people like me who like visually organized stuff, I would like to have an option to sort the editor tabs and that tabs stack up like in Netbeans. I find it really more efficient to see the full file names (many files only change in suffixes) (with option to display or not .java and .class) and have them stacking up. Stacked tabs were bulky in Netbeans because tabs were not sorted. I would love to see that in Eclipse.
Yes. Rows of tabs, pleeeeeeeeeeease!
The lack of stacked tabs is the biggest usability issue with Eclipse. As of Eclipse 3.0, I can no longer order tabs. When I select a hidden tab from the right menu, the leftmost tab changes. Frustrating.

Created attachment 81583 [details] row layout screenshot from JBuilder Here is an example of row layout taken from an old version of JBuilder. Please note all the useful option in the preference dialog. I found it very effective and I suggest to take it in consideration.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
