Situation:

/home/user/workspace symlinked to /nfspath/home/user/workspace

Recreate:

Start Eclipse:

./eclipse -data /home/user/workspace
- or -
./eclipse -data /nfspath/home/user/workspace

Error:

"Error in runtime; workspace cannot be set. Exiting"

This is a known issue (see bug 44735 for some background). Please see bug 55744
comment 7 for an workaround. The bogus error message is reported in bug 55511.
