Description Steve Bolton CLA 2020-11-11 08:28:23 EST
Given: You have downloaded the Eclipse release and checked notarization
When: You open eclipse, choose a workspace (but don't set it as default) and close it again
Then: Notarization has been lost.

Example of message:

App signature check:
⛔️ spctl error 1
/Applications/Eclipse.app: a sealed resource is missing or invalid

I wanted to test if you update a notarized version of eclipse to a later version, if it is still notarized after the update. But you can't even run the first install without losing notarization

I used Eclipse 2019-12 which I believe is the first notarized version of Eclipse.
I downloaded it and dragged it to my Applications folder.
I then dragged the app onto Taccy (https://eclecticlight.co/taccy-signet-precize-alifix-utiutility-alisma/) and it confirmed the app was notarized.

I did the same thing after running eclipse and it produced the speccy error listed above.
