The org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv jar with 40 MB is by far the biggest plugin in the Eclipse project. A big portion (in the uncompressed version it's 92%) in this /references/api subfolder. This is the generated JavaDoc HTML files. Do we really need to ship all that stuff which each Eclipse Installation? Most of the user will simply use Eclipse as IDE and will never need to use the Eclipse Platform's APIs. Can't we simply link to the generated JavaDoc HTML files hosted on Eclipse.org?
I just see that the *.isv bundles are not part of the EPPs. So we only have them in the SDK builds from https://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/ Correct? So normal IDE uses won't get these 40 MB.
