Created attachment 283636 [details] Image describing relative sizes of icons and tabs compared to screen size I am using Eclipse 4.16 on Ubuntu 16.04.6 LTS with Java 8. Tab height is too much and icons in tool bar are huge (as big as icons on taskbar on the left, see attachment). The icons were supposed be almost half in size. To reproduce, install Eclipse on Ubuntu 16.04 with the installer (not zip archive) and just open it.
I am not able to see the problem here. Can you please attach a screen shot from earlier version where you don't see the problem. Can you test on Ubuntu 18 or Ubuntu 20 and see whether you can reproduce this problem?
Created attachment 283669 [details] Reference image for relative icon and screen size in Ubuntu 16

I have added a reference image from Eclipse 4.14 version on Ubuntu 16. Also, testing on Ubuntu 18 or 20 is not useful for me as I can't use those versions on my laptop due to driver issues.
I see a change in the icon spacing and space around title bars on the tabs. I feel this is related to changes in themes. Moving to platform UI for comment
I don't think we changes something here in the theming. I think Gtk version of Ubuntu 16.04 is not supported anymore by SWT. Alex, please comment.
Lars, I think you are right because there are multiple issue in Eclipse 4.17 in Ubuntu 16. This is the only one I have reported yet. I am unable to resize editor windows too.
Sorry, I mean 4.16.
Eclipse 4.16 requires Gtk 3.22 and IIRC Ubuntu 16.04 has older version.
This bug can be marked as closed now. Thanks everyone.
Thanks Jitendra.
