Description Debbie Wilson CLA 2004-03-25 14:48:34 EST
I200403251200
- found after fixing bug 56038
- clean workspace
- Preferences->Import the attached file (from bug 56038) which is a 2.1
preference file
- try to open the Debug perspective
You get a dialog called 'Restoring Problems' with the errors:
'Could not create view: org.eclipse.debug.ui.ConsoleView'
and
'Could not find view: org.eclipse.debug.ui.ConsoleView'

The log file contains:

!MESSAGE Unable to find Action Set: org.eclipse.jdt.debug.ui.JDTLaunchActionSet
Comment 1 Darin Swanson CLA 2004-03-25 14:51:57 EST
The console view id has been changed in 3.0
That action set no longer exists in 3.0.
Comment 2 Debbie Wilson CLA 2004-03-26 12:06:39 EST
UI has logged bug 56380 to for the perspective registry to be more resilient
to these sorts of issues.
Comment 3 Darin Swanson CLA 2004-03-26 12:10:13 EST
Thanks.
Does that mean there is no debug issue and this bug can be closed?
Comment 4 Debbie Wilson CLA 2004-03-26 12:26:48 EST
Sorry, but there is still a Debug issue. I just think we (UI) could be a bit
more graceful than a NullPointerException in handling it.
Comment 5 Darin Swanson CLA 2004-03-26 12:32:36 EST
We have documentation (3.0 porting guide) about the console view id changing.
We should add documentation about the action set changes.
Comment 6 Darin Wright CLA 2004-06-17 17:59:42 EDT
No work panned, except readme notes.
Comment 7 John Arthorne CLA 2004-06-17 18:10:00 EDT
When you say "panned", did you mean:

1 a : to wash in a pan for the purpose of separating heavy particles b : to
separate (as gold) by panning c : to place in a pan

Or,

2 : to criticize severely <the show was panned>

:)
Comment 8 Darin Wright CLA 2004-06-17 18:11:36 EDT
Oops. I'll just say "planned".
Comment 9 Darin Swanson CLA 2004-06-17 18:17:19 EDT
I elect John to spell/grammar check all of the doc for Eclipse. Actually all
the javadoc should be checked as well...should take a day or two :-)
Comment 10 Darin Wright CLA 2005-07-07 11:05:03 EDT
Closing.
Comment 11 Denis Roy CLA 2009-08-30 02:24:31 EDT
As of now 'LATER' and 'REMIND' resolutions are no longer supported.
Please reopen this bug if it is still valid for you.
