Description Chris Laffra CLA 2004-03-25 11:45:15 EST
In the 'new' look. Create a few editors. In Windows>Preferences enable
Go to the tab for the first one.
Move the mouse over the close icon. It turns from gray into red.
Tricky: press the left mouse button, but do not move the mouse.
All editor tabs shift left, and the mouse pointer sits on top of the close
icon for editor 2 (which is now editor 1). When you click there, the editor
closes, but the tab is not shown until you move the mouse. When you get to
the last and final editor, the close icon is drawn, as it has the selection.

All this shows best on a laptop (where I noticed it).

In Windows>Preferences enable multiple editor tabs to be shown in the editor
section

Chris, which 3.0 build are you using?
Comment 3 Chris Laffra CLA 2004-03-25 14:06:13 EST
I swapped back to M7 for different reasons, but I saw it on last week's build,
and yesterday on someone's machine who uses last integration build

I think this is now obsolete
Comment 5 Chris Laffra CLA 2006-04-13 17:06:39 EDT
I just tried on 3.2M6 and it still happens.
Open a few editors. Go to the first editor's close button.
Don't move the mouse while clicking on the close button.
The first editor closes, and the second editor replaces the first one.
The close button does not get a mouseEnter event, so it is not shown.
It does handle the close event though.
If you move the mouse even one pixel, the close button will be drawn

With Latest Eclipse 3.2 Release also the close button on editors is not shown. I am using Windows-XP SP2.

Can reproduce using 3.3.

Remy is now responsible for watching the [EditorMgmt] component area.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
