I find the default import / export icon very ugly. I suggest we investigate if we could find nicer icons.

Can you provide a screenshot which icons you mean exactly?

The lat style looks out of place. If we keep that aspect out the icon is almost identical only the direction of the arrow is a bit different. What is better on the arrow's direction in the new one compared to the existing one?

Even though I would like all of Eclipse's icons to be flat, Matthias does have a point in that it's kind of out of place (compared to other, non-flat icons).

Also, shouldn't the export icon's arrow be directed upwards? (Going away from the bottom bar, which makes the exporting analogy correct).

With all that said... I do like the new suggested icon :) I'm just not sure if others will like it as well.
