Description David M. Karr CLA 2020-01-02 01:02:59 EST
On my Ubuntu 16.04 VM, running Eclipse 2019-12 and Java 12, if I open the "Keys" preference page and click on the "Binding" field and then type a character sequence, most characters I type go into the field twice. I can find some that do not have this behavior, but most do.

For instance, Ctrl+<lowercase alpha> behaves normally. However, Ctrl+<lowercase numeric> behaves erratically. Sometimes it inserts a single character, sometimes two. Shift+<lowercase alpha> and Shift+<lowercase numeric> all have the double insert behavior, along with any ordinary lowercase character. It appears that Alt+<anything> does not display the behavior.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
