I work a lot with files over network shares, not in any project. When I lose the connection to these shares, the IDE locks up for a while and then tells me the file is not accessible. The only options it gives me are to close the editor(and lose all my changes, undo history, etc) or save it in a different location(which I really don't want to do). If I select to close the file, it just switches to another file and gives me the same prompt, and this goes on and on when I just want to access a different file that I do have access to. Even if I reconnect to the network, I then need to select to save the file and then cancel and then it gives me another prompt about the file having changed even though it hasn't. Very annoying. All I want is the ability to simply do nothing with these files when this happens, or a way to disable this file checking completely. I can understand that if I want to save the file that it should give me an error about it not being accessible, but I'm not trying to save it, I'm not trying to do anything with it.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
The problem was never resolved.
