I've just did an update from eclipse ide for enterprise developers from 2019-06 to 2019-09. The update seemd to be successful, it asked me if I wanted to restart the IDE. I've said yes. Result: "The Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library" Starting on the console I get: configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/349/data/-1443554215/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.1100.v20190907-0426: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I'm running eclipse on a Debian Linux, the stable (Buster) version. So I guess it's another reinstall of eclipse (I have to do that for 3 out of 4 updates... somehow it starts boring me)
Same issue here using CentOS Linux release 7.6.1810 openjdk version "1.8.0_222" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_222-b10) OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.222-b10, mixed mode) Messages: configuration/org.eclipse.osgi/1081/data/-1330060807/plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.1100.v20190907-0426: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Gtk-Message: 09:07:21.231: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged. UI Dialog: "The Eclipse executable launcher was unable to locate its companion shared library" Had already been running 2019-09, but received an update during eclipse startup today. Agreed to the terms and process presumably completed. Did not ask for a restart. The next startup failed with the message above.
