Idiot user accidentally started a file search for "*". (no quotes)

Search starts, search view gradually updates, but looks like taking forever.

Hit red square tool box icon to cancel.

Wait cursor appears and display is partially greyed.

After typing this BUgzilla, Eclipse is still greyed. Search view has got to 2,500,000 results.

Please ensure that ALL potentially long running UI algorithms are cancellable, and since fixing each algorithm individually and regularly is impractical, please provide a top level cancel that ALWAYS works.

MAJOR since the inability to regain control is very damaging.
