Indeed, new changes are always on the right side whether it be VS Code, IntelliJ, NetBeans, Gerrit, GitHub, etc.

Eclipse is the only tool that I know of that does things differently, which is confusing, especially for new users, but also for experimented users as shown in the linked bug. I suggest we change the default behaviour, and make the "Swap left and right" actually override this almost universal default.

Sorry about that. Searching for "swap left right" and "swap compare" did not pick up that bug.
