Description Ed Willink CLA 2019-07-05 04:28:40 EDT
2019-06: In the past, the Scroll Lock icon on the Console View could be used to stabilize the display while a running tsst continues to add text.

(Console is set to 2,000,000 characters and probably way more than that emitted to Console.)

No more. Scroll lock looks like a placebo.

Enable Auto-scroll lock preferennce also seems to be ineffective.

Bug 148622 appears to report exactly the same problem. The WORKSFORME dismaissal of Bug 1486. "we're trimming so much from the top, that it appears as if scroll lock is broken" is an admission that it 'appears', i.e. the user experience is broken.

If I apply scroll lock

1) the visible lines must not move.
2) additional output is buffered.
3) if additional output exceeds the buffer size mandating trimming at the top, the source must be "ctrl-S"ed.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

Surely cannot be stale or closed until triaged by a relevant committer?
