A user reported this as a crash or hang. He's some distance away, so this bug report was arrived at by a process of deduction. I am not able to reproduce it with a simple test case. The user wound up with 7000 markers in the task view and a very unresponsive Eclipse. The user could start out clean with no problems and then update through Perforce, or just copy files in from a build on top of the existing project files, and the problems would begin. The task view just kept filling up and his XML editor (XMLBuddy) stopped responding. The log file contained resouce not found exceptions thrown in the process of trying to remove a marker, which the editor does whenever it is about to replace the markers for an open file. Turned out the user was unfamiliar with the Refresh command. After manually deleting the .markers file and refreshing, he is off and running again. That's pretty much what I know. Will update if there are further problems.
