Description Xi Yan CLA 2019-03-22 11:35:25 EDT
On SWT master, it outputs Error saving GIF: org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Unsupported color depth

On native GTK implementation, it outputs empty file
Comment 1 Pierre-Charles David CLA 2019-05-15 05:19:55 EDT
I have the same kind of symptoms under Linux with GMF and Sirius tests which try to export diagrams as GIFs. It seems to depend on which version of Java / SWT / GTK is used, but I have not yet been able to investigate further to identify the actual criterion.

It *seems* it could be related to "719370e9e5 Bug 545032 - [GTK] Implement native ImageLoader", but I'm not familiar enough with the SWT/GTK code to explain how/why.
Comment 2 Eric Williams CLA 2019-05-15 08:35:20 EDT
I believe this is broken both before and after the native ImageLoader implementation, just in different ways. We'll investigate for 4.13.
Comment 3 Eric Williams CLA 2019-05-31 08:21:10 EDT
I can confirm the bug has existed for a long time, before bug 545032. The issue is that ImageDatas are created with a hardcoded 32-bit depth.
Comment 4 Eric Williams CLA 2019-08-13 08:34:36 EDT
Moving out of 4.13 as I won't be getting to this.
Comment 5 Eclipse Genie CLA 2021-11-29 15:03:05 EST
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
