When a change happens onto a pom.xml, the change is added to the ProjectRefistyRefreshJob for further processing. That's fine. However, the cached MavenProject can still be used in the meantime, which can lead to erroneous/non-reacting results. While refreshing the cache has to happen asynchronously; it would be worth trying to make the cache invalidation synchronous on resource change to not have temporary inconsistent states.
