Description Joachim Fuchs CLA 2018-07-25 04:28:48 EDT
The entries in the Problem view's error category appear to be rendered in black even with activated dark theme. Entries need to be selected to read the description in the status bar of the IDE window.

Eclipse Photon, build 20180619-1200.

To my surprise when I took the screenshot I discovered the fact, that the font color is most probably not the problem. Even with the light theme activated there is no text to read in the description.

You may discover different results switching between dark and light theme, with or without restarting the IDE.

"Right click > Copy Details > Description" works and even the IDE's status bar displays the description text of the selected entry.

So, it happens when you switch the theme and don't restart?
Comment 7 Joachim Fuchs CLA 2018-07-26 05:13:00 EDT
Unfortunately not.
- I start with the light theme and the errors are readable black on white.
- I switch to dark theme and they are gone (or black on black).
- I restart the IDE and still the errors are not readable.
- I switch back to light theme, errors are white on white or not displayed (the icons are present, though).
- After restarting the IDE everything is fine again.

BTW: the starting IDE does not show any signs of activity but clicking anywhere results in the window marked as "not responding".

Can you try with http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops4/I20180725-2000/ and a new workspace please.

Sorry, I was on vacation, so I came too late to find your link working.

No change, sorry.

Looks like I did not precisely state that only the errors are affected, warnings and problems are fine.

Niraj, can you try on your Windows 10 box? I have Windows 7 and can't reproduce it.

Tested with latest Build id: I20180815-2000, can't reproduce it on Win10 either.

Tried with and without restart.. also tried switching both ways multiple times in same eclipse session, I don't see the issue at my end.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
