After launching four or five times, Ant inside the workbench on build.xml
I got always an Out Of Memory errror and I must shut down the IDE and restart.
Fortunately often I can save work.
Eclipse 2.1

This is a known issue.
Workarounds etc outlined in the duplicate.
Your best bet is to move to Eclipse 3.0
Or move to Eclipse 2.1.3 and use Ant 1.6.*
