Created attachment 272997 [details] Modal Dialog prevents me from editing surefire config at same time I don't understand, why the eclipse run configuration dialog has to be modal. I often setup a launch configuration, and afterwards have to read the run level and auto start settings to add it to a surefire config. Is there any reason to have this Dialog Modal - which effectively prevents me from reading and editing at the same time?!
+1 for converting this to a view.
(In reply to Lars Vogel from comment #1) > +1 for converting this to a view. That's the proposal in bug 513735.

Just for clarity, bug 513735 does not make the dialog modal, it provides an additional view with Launch Configuration details..
Lars can I re-open this`(In reply to Sarika Sinha from comment #4) > Just for clarity, bug 513735 does not make the dialog modal, it provides an > additional view with Launch Configuration details.. Lars, can I reopen this? https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=513735 does not cover non-modal edits, just mentioned this also there.
Reopen as requested
+1 I would like if the left part (tree) of the current modal dialog would be a view (like Project Explorer) while the right part (edit) would be an editor (like the Manifest Editor). I would also like if there is no difference between "Debug Configurations" and "Run Configurations". Instead i would like them to be the same editor/tree with just two different buttons "Debug"/"Run"
