Text showing whitespace characters when highlighted

Some advanced text editors allow to show whitespace characters in highlighted text (see image attached).
This is very convenient. Why not have it in eclipse ?

This is interesting proposal. Of course you should know there is a button on the main toolbar to show white space in editors. If this is not what you want you can install AnyEdit Tools plugin (https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/anyedit-tools) and enable permanent coloring of the white space in the colors you like.
