Description Lakshmi P Shanmugam CLA 2017-01-20 05:15:25 EST
Beginning with Mac 10.10, the text is lowered in some controls, sometimes to the point that font descenders are cut off. This problems happens when system font is used with bold or italics style.
Bug #481144 fixed the problem with BOLD style, this bug tracks the fix for italics style.

Targeting for 4.6.3. This problem doesn't seem to affect the IDE, unlike Bug 481144.
Skipping convertFont and setting the italics style using extraTraits fixes the problem for most of the widgets. But, doesn't change to text to italics for text widget.

Phillip, do you have any ideas to address this problem?

Not really I'm afraid. I think this is actually an Apple bug but they weren't able to reproduce it. If you're able to create a sample without SWT in the mix you might get more luck than I did.

I tried to workaround this by using extra-traits to set the italics. It seems to work for most widgets, but fails for Text widget.
Moving to 4.7 for now.

This looks like an Apple bug. I doubt if I'll be able to look at the workaround for 4.7.

Seems like an Apple bug and doesn't happen in the IDE. Moving out of 4.8.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
