Created attachment 265433 [details] Eclipse configuration details I'm getting frequence UI freezes similar to the one below. When I switch perspectives it happens almost all the time, but also at other times, usually related to the layout in the IDE changing (resizing views, switching between tabs, etc). The UI freeze samples are almost always somewhere in side GTK, but the exact location varies. One location which frequently turns up in the stack trace is org.eclipse.e4.ui.workbench.addons.cleanupaddon.CleanupAddon.subscribeVisibilityChanged. I have SWT_GTK3=0 set in my environment and libgtk-2.0 is at version 2.24.30. So the freeze happens in Eclipse 4.6.1.M20160907-1200, running on Linux with gtk.version=2.24.30 I have a couple of questions: - is this bug solved if you use GTK 3.0 ? - Is there a sequence of steps to reproduce the bug punctually ?
I tried unsetting SWT_GTK3, and as could be suspected, the bug does not appear with GTK 3.x. But what's more annoying, the freezes (at least when switching perspectives) do not occur even when switching back to GTK 2.x. I'll keep my eyes open when/if the problem resurfaces and revisit this then. Marking as WORKSFORME until then.
