Seems like the requirement for a monospace font in block selection is very hard. The switch to Block Selection action should run some checks on the block selection font to verify it's a monospace one, and if it's not show user a warning and the font preference page (ideally selecting the block selection font) to let user change the font.

A warning would be fine, but not an error.
