It seems your windows are in an invalid state. If you use Window > New Window, can you open your files again? Or are your new editors showing errors too?

You could try moving <workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.e4.workbench/workbench.xmi aside and restarting.
Comment 3 Andreas Höhmann CLA 2016-07-21 02:51:39 EDT
That worked :) After removing the workspace.xmi I can start the workspace again. I would be nice if eclipse will try to "check" if such situation happens and if so it could ask the user like this:

"It seems our workspace.xmi is in an invalid state. Would you like to start without that workspace.xmi" ...

Just an idea :)
Comment 4 Eclipse Genie CLA 2020-03-30 10:50:35 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
