Currently the Ctrl+F command opens a dialog. I think it would be much nicer if it would work similar to the EGit History extension where a inline find element is opened. This is also used by other tools like Intellij. See sceenshots.

I think that is different as it does not provide a field to change the search string.

You change it by typing. The text is in the status bar. There are no plans to change this.

Please leave this bug open, so that I can have this as a reminder bug to see if we can find a better solution compared to the current one.
