Description Scott Everts CLA 2015-09-30 07:02:53 EDT
I detach the console window and place it on a different monitor and then do my coding on a different monitor. When I perform a find/replace search the focus is placed in the console window frame instead of the frame that contains the code. It is extremely annoying.

We may need more information to investigate, like: which find/replace do you use? From the main menu "Search > Search > Replace" or the Ctrl-F "Find/Replace" variety?
Or: during which step is the focus moving to the console?

Anyway, JDT/Core is not handling anything related to focus, trying to find a team that is more likely to be responsible.

Here's some additional information:

I am seeing this behavior when I am in the JAVA EE Perspective and I see the same behavior regardless if it is from the main menu "Search > Search > Replace" or the Ctrl-F "Find/Replace".

Focus is first in a java edit window, and I then press Ctrl-F, the Find/Replace dialog is displayed, I press the close button and the focus is transferred to the detached console window.

Is this still an issue?

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
