I very frequently need to filter a a resource in the project explorer, e.g., a project. IMHO adding the option to activate a filter (box) in the project explorer would be an awesome enhancement.

Hi Lars, can you check whether this is a duplicate of 

Bug 506931 -  [CommonNavigator] A quick filter possibility in Project
Explorer and other CNF viewers ?

For that bug I already had a draft changeset ready, but back then the incubation of Glance more or less made this obsolete. 

So if my change is still wanted, I could try to rebase it and get it ready as a contribution. Otherwise, could you specify a bit more why Glance is not fulfilling the requirements?
