Inside https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=473107 it was proposed to rename custom Show In menu into Terminal, that has: - Terminal - Git Bash - some other shell Together with StartExplorer [1] Eclipse gets: - open in (external) File Manager - open in (external) shell - open with default app - copy resource path What if to combine this two into one "Start" [1]: https://github.com/basti1302/startexplorer StartExplorer author Bastian Krol has just said that the project "look for maintainer" and possibly would be glad to see StartExplorer within Eclipse, though unclear if helping to transform to eclipse.org namespace Having this two project next to each other would be great fit.
If integrating StartExplorer in one form or the other into Eclipse distros directly would be a possible option, I would gladly support this. That is, donate the code base, help with necessary changes etc. Kind regards Bastian (author of StartExplorer)
The Terminal component of the Eclipse Ecosystem has a new home. The Terminal is now part of the Eclipse CDT project[1]. This change means a new Git repo[2], P2 site[3] and Bugzilla component. The terminal will continue to be delivered as part of the quarterly Simultaneous Release of Eclipse as well. The marketplace entry[4] had not been updated in a few years. It will once again install the latest release of the terminal on the latest release of the whole IDE (currently 2020-03). If this bug is no longer relevant, please feel free to comment or close the bug. If you can confirm if this issues still occurs in the latest release please do let me know in a comment.
