In project navigator, it seems like there is no easy way to open the system explorer from a given folder. Similarly to file, one could expect a "Open With > System Explorer" on a folder context menu.
Note that the Remote System Explorer adds a dedicated context-menu to Folders, which is "Show In Remote Systems view", that would probably fit in such a "Open With" menu,
